I have gone through many struggles in the past 15 years. I have had health issues from 4 knee replacements and 1 hip replacement to being bit by a brown recluse spider that ate a hole in my foot and many more. During some of that I went through a divorce, sold a home and had to move. It seemed like a good time to make a major change before I couldn't anymore. I listened to a Mathew West song "Day One" and that did it. Today is day one of the rest of your life. What are you going to do with this gift from God. I had always wanted to see the country and stay warm...LOL!
I have had 25 years of camping. I started in a tent, but that didn't last long. From there I got a pop-up camper and camped for a few years popping up and down over and over. I then bought a 28 foot camper with 4 bunks and no slides! We started traveling a lot and found out that a camper with a wood frame shouldn't be pulled around so much. I pulled it 1000's of miles and it fell appart. I then got a 30 foot with a bunkhouse and a super slide and pulled this over 10,000 miles. I took it to North and South Carolina, Florida, Route 66, Arizona, Colorado, Yellowstone, Glacier, Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore and many other places. Then I put it at a campground in northern Michigan. After all the changes in my life I sold it to one of my 5 children and bought my current 5th wheel and my F450 dually.
My future defines "Day One" to a tee. I have had 5 knee replacements and 1 hip replaced. Then in 2023 traveling around the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Texas, I was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider in Bay Saint Louis Mississippi. This put me in the hospital for 2 months and did massive damage to my foot and leg. It also re-infected my left knee. The doctors are now saying that it may have to be amputated because there isn't enough bone left after the 3 previous replacements. I am now trying new research hospitals to see if there is something that can be done to save it. I plan to continue the travels no matter what happens. I will continue to loose weight and control my blood sugar to dio what I can to save the leg and continue. I am planning on getting back into traveling and doing videos on places to see, places to stay and how to do it and continue to diet, exercise and get as healthy as possible.
